Hej alla,

En Hotelldirektörs vardag är fylld av spänningar och utmaningar!

Det är ett yrke som jag varmt kan rekommendera till alla som vill ha variation och arbetsglädje.

Dygnet har dock bara 24-timmar och jag behöver prioritera min tid. Jag har därför beslutat att lägga bloggen åt sidan.

SHAKE my WORLD

Hej alla,

Om du ska delta på Shake my World kvällen som går av stapeln ny på fredag här på hotellet, då får du gärna kommentera på detta inlägg och önska en låt eller två!

Vi startar redan kl 17.00, så kom direkt efter jobbet, det finns enklare mat att köpa på plats, sallad 75kr ciabatta 65kr.

När vi stänger singel-baren kl 24.00, är ni välkomna att fortsätta festen en trappa upp till 03.00.

Breakfast at the Hilton

This morgning I had a breakfast meeting at the Hilton here in Stockholm.

I’m not going to go into detail there are really only a few things I need to get of my chest:

1. Great, great Staff

2. Cold scrambled eggs, but at least they were done with real eggs which is rare in Hotels these days

3. The Croissants were the highlight together with the fresh Orange Juice containing pulp.

Courtyard by Marriott

The past Weekend I had the opportunity to have dinner at ”Björk Bar & Grill” and stay a night at the brand new Courtyard by Marriott in Stockholm.

When arriving at the Hotel, you notice that it is new, fresh and clean.

The checkin went very smooth, it was friendly, relaxed  and I was allocated a room on the 11th floor. As I steped out on the 11th floor I was meet by a huge corriodor and a buzzing ice machine. When I entered the room I was surprised… A large room, with nice views and plenty of space. Some of the furniture and lamps were placed oddly but then again, it takes a while to get settled in and they opened the hotel recently. I loved the Philips panel where you can plug in all you gadgets and the docking station for you Iphone or Ipod.

The bathroom was aslo nice and spacious with a beautiful view of the park from the bathtub. An added bonus as I see it.

At 19.00 We went for dinner. As you have read in my Brunch review earlier I like the layout and design of the restaurant. It could have been a bit darker to set the evening ambiance, but other than that we felt welcome. I had a Carpaccio to start with, it needed to be seasoned, the meat was a bit cold and the sunflower seeds were over powering the dish. My Wife ate the Flatbread with Tenderloin, LOVELY!!!

I then had the Burger, which was great value for money, however I personally did not like the wholegrain bun.

The Service was really good and the whole experience felt nice. All in all I would say that it is nice hotel restaurant (so if the main market they are targeting are in-house guests, then they are doing well) but to succeed on the Stockholm market they need to find an edge. The Flatbreads are a great start to that edge.

Had a good nights sleep followed by a nice breakfast. The buffet was well organised, everything felt fresh and you could even order porridge or omelets a la minute.

Carlsberg in Denmark are going on Strike

The reason being that the company ”only” wants to allow their workers to drink Beer during lunch.

Currently the workers are allowed to have 3 Beers per day at any given time…!?

Breakfast at Operaterrassen with SHR

Today I was part of hosting a breakfast seminar at Operaterrassen (Stockholm).

A wonderful venue for any event, but they should have cleaned the windows…

Anyway, on stage was Yvonne from Berns, Henrik the founder of Chef (a magazine for leaders), Alexander (a communications expert) and myself.

The topic was ”Social Media” which by definition are; media designed to be disseminated through social interaction, using highly accessible and scalable publishing techniques. Social media use web-based technologies to transform and broadcast media monologues into social media dialogues. They support the democratization of knowledge and information and transform people from content consumers to content producers.

We had some good conversations about what to do, how to do it and what’s up and coming.

What struck me was the amount of control that people feel they need to have when it comes to this topic. Why are you so afraid and of what?

Yes it will bite you in the ”behind” at times, but what is the worst thing that can happen? The advantages overweigh the  disadvantages by far!

By engaging and allowing your staff to engage you make your company interesting, approachable and human. I am also convinced that you will get better employees that feel like they are able to take part in society, friends, guests and the company they work with while they work (an added bonus, and something that most young people require in order to feel content).

Do not be afraid, ENGAGE and remember ”If you snooze you loose”.
